Match Preview: High flying Huddersfield take on struggling Burton Albion

Unknown-21

In matchday 39 of the Championship 3rd place Huddersfield take on relegation-threatened Burton Albion in a game which is important for both sides for completely different reasons.

The hosts Huddersfield go into the game just 6 points off the automatic promotion places with a game in hand, meaning a victory in this game opens up another opportunity for them to close the gap and move further towards winning promotion.

Despite going into the game as clear favourites Huddersfield aren’t on the best run of form, their last game being an embarrassing defeat at the hands of struggling Bristol City. The visitors on that day were hammered 4-0 in a game hailed as their ‘worst performance of the season’, meaning the international break couldn’t have come at a better time for them.

After there was no games played in the league last weekend manager David Wagner will be hoping his side will return refreshed and ready to build back their form they have previously shown throughout this campaign and take all 3 points on Saturday.

Meanwhile the visitors go into the game just 1 point adrift from the relegation zone and with just one win from their last 6 league games. With just 8 games remaining of the season every match matters and despite being massive outsiders for the game, even a point would significantly help their fight for survival.

Huddersfield will be without Gorenc-Stankovic who suffered an injury midweek.

Burton Albion have a fully fit squad going into the game whilst Huddersfield will remain without Jonathan Hogg who has suffered with a fracture, and centre-back Jon Gorenc-Stankovic who sustained a knee injury during the international break is also a doubt.

Our predictions for the game is that despite suffering a bitterly disappointing defeat in their last game, we reckon Huddersfield should manage to sail through this game pretty comfortably and take all three points.
