‘Game of the game week’ preview – Norwich vs Birmingham

Game week 28 is shaping up to involve a mixture of delight, drama and disappointment for all 24 clubs in the Championship, and with the teams at the top of the league making ground away from those at the bottom, this weekend’s fixtures, as always, seems to certainly be something to look forward to.

Selected as the first fixture to feature as ‘Game of the game week’ here on the The Big Division blog is high-flying Norwich facing Birmingham at Carrow Road.

Having not won since Christmas, dropping out of the automatic promotion places as a result, the game is a chance for the Canaries to get back on track in the league. But with Birmingham’s recent form tailing off somewhat, being without a win in their last three Championship matches, the game is shaping up to be a well- contested, even affair.

A likely line-up from the visitors may include strikers Che Adams and Lukas Jutkiewicz playing together upfront, a tactic that has worked wonderfully this season, with the pair being one of the hottest duos in the Championship – having an impressive 23 league goals between them.

Along with this, and Norwich having scored at least 3 goals in their last 5 home games, the match between the two seems certain to be a goal- laden encounter.

With Marco Stiepermann out injured for the home side, Kenny McClean could again get his chance to start in behind Teemu Pukki on the weekend, hoping to add to his one assist picked up last time out against West Brom.

With the game being played on Friday evening, in front of the Sky camera’s, it certainly holds the potential to entertain football fans all around the world.

This is an important time for Norwich in their promotion quest and with their following two matches being against the only teams above them in the table, a confidence boost from gaining three points here would be very welcome.

‘Game of the game week’ prediction: Norwich 2-1 Birmingham.
